Mixdown Information
Some useful tips for optimum mixdown results:
- File formats: We work with *.wav, *.aif, *.aiff, *.bwf
- Samplerate: We are able to work with samplerates from 44.1khz to 192khz.
- Bit depth resolution: We recommend 24-bit (dithered) or 32-bit (not dithered).
- No normalization: Please do not normalize your track(s) once the mixdown is complete.
- On stereo output: No limting. You don’t have to make your mixdown sound loud with a multiband-compressor, a limiter or any loudness maximizer.
- Avoid clipping: On stereo output, please avoid 0dBFS! Digital clipping causes digital distortion and dynamics/transients are getting lost.
- Peak level/Headroom: Optimum peak levels between -3.0dbFS to -10.0dBFS.
- On stereo output: If mix buss compression is applied, we recommend a maximum gain reduction of 2.0dB.
- On stereo output: No editing of stereo balance, stereo spread or stereo phase.
- Mark a larger region, that your effects are not getting cut off.
- After mixdown: Avoid any additional digital rework like samplerate conversion, EQing, pre-mastering or any kind of “finalizing”.
- Deliver files as data via ftp, on CD-R, USB-stick or -harddrive. If possible no audio-CD!
- Check your mixdown by using
an audio software like e.g.
Audacity.
